{"id":145,"date":"2011-11-29T14:18:59","date_gmt":"2011-11-29T14:18:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helpmeinvestigate.com\/health\/?p=145"},"modified":"2021-10-22T07:05:20","modified_gmt":"2021-10-22T07:05:20","slug":"whos-who-bill-morgan-special-adviser-on-policy-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/helpmeinvestigate.com\/health\/2011\/11\/29\/whos-who-bill-morgan-special-adviser-on-policy-development\/","title":{"rendered":"Who&#8217;s Who: Bill Morgan, special adviser on policy development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s <a title=\"Who's who in health\" href=\"http:\/\/helpmeinvestigate.com\/health\/category\/whos-who\/\">Who&#8217;s Who<\/a> profile on <strong>Bill Morgan<\/strong> comes from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebureauinvestigates.com\/2011\/11\/25\/analysis-unhealthy-friendships-with-department-of-health\/\">a report by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism<\/a>, which looked at the links between Morgan and his previous employers:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Mr Morgan came to [Andrew] Lansley\u2019s office in July 2010 having been director for the health arm of <strong>Mandate Communications<\/strong>, a public relations company which has since merged with <strong>MHP communications<\/strong>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;MHP\u2019s clients include <strong>Coca Cola, Kraft Foods <\/strong>and<strong> Tesco Stores<\/strong>. All three companies have signed up to the Public Health Responsibility Deal.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The report goes on to add:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;DoH\u2019s hospitality records show that in October 2010 Mr Morgan attended a breakfast meeting with representatives from Health Mandate.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A Department of Health spokesperson said: \u2018The breakfast meeting hosted by Mandate was between Mr Morgan and a range of healthcare stakeholders, including several charities, to update them on the government\u2019s NHS plans. He has undertaken similar engagements hosted by other organisations.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mr Morgan\u2019s departmental hospitality records show meetings with other companies and organisations, however Mandate are the only public relations company logged.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;&#8230; Earlier this year lobbying watchdog\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.spinwatch.org\/-articles-by-category-mainmenu-8\/70-british-politics\/5422-revealed-government-secretly-uses-doctors-to-spin-tribal-war-for-nhs-hearts-and-minds-oh-and-p80-billion\">Spinwatch<\/a>\u00a0revealed leaked emails between Morgan and private healthcare company, Tribal, which appeared to be providing the DoH with a\u00a0list of pro-privitisation GPs to help convince ministers and the public of the need for further NHS privatisation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.powerbase.info\/index.php\/Bill_Morgan\">PowerBase&#8217;s profile of Morgan<\/a> adds more general context.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Can you add other useful sources of information about Bill Morgan?
