How can the only emergency night shelter for homeless people in Kent be under the threat of closure, and how might it be saved?

The Canterbury Open Centre, the only emergency night shelter in all of Kent, is threatened with closure as a result of Kent County Council’s decision to pull the contracts on several projects the Scrine Foundation runs, including the emergency nightshelter. The consequences for Kent’s homeless population will be dire if this goes ahead. The question is what is the real motivation behind Kent County Council’s decision, and what can be done to ensure that this potentiality does not transpire?
