Speakers include (from the site):<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\" dir=\"ltr\"><em>Our panel will feature <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spreadingjam.com\/2012\/02\/welcome-to-the-socialympics\/www.tomlinsonlongjump.com\/\">Chris Tomlinson<\/a>, record-breaking British long jumper and double Olympian; Gordon Lott, Head of London 2012 Partnership and Group Sponsorship at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lloydstsblondon2012.co.uk\/\">Lloyds TSB<\/a>, the London Games\u2019 first domestic sponsor; Hugh Chambers, Chief Commercial Officer of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.olympics.org.uk\/\">British Olympic Association<\/a>; Paul Kelso, Chief Sports Reporter of the Daily Telegraph; Alex Miller, CEO of Engine\u2019s social media agency Jam, Engine\u2019s social media and mobile agency; with myself in the chair. RT @<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SynergyCarsten\">SynergyCarsten<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search\/%2523socialympics\">#socialympics<\/a> some stats: social media users in Athens = 0, Beijing = 100m, London = 2b<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Abigail Sawyer (@abisawyer) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/abisawyer\/status\/169360956139376640\" data-datetime=\"2012-02-14T10:02:53+00:00\">February 14, 2012<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This suggests that social media (or web 2.0) was not present during the Athens 2004 games. This claim is hard to believe, seeing that it only takes <a href=\"http:\/\/www.indymedia.org.uk\/en\/2004\/07\/295587.html\">a quick google search<\/a> to find blog posts still available around the time from independent (or citizen) journalists which makes me think that there is a lot of misinformation being spread about what really happened on the web during the last 12 years of games.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;ve extracted the data from twitter (using <a href=\"twitter.com\/mhawksey\">@mhawksey<\/a>&#8216;s archive <a href=\"http:\/\/mashe.hawksey.info\/twitter-archive-tagsv3\/\">spreadsheet<\/a> too) of what was said at the event and how and who was sharing it &#8211; I think it would be benefitial going through the comments to see what is being promoted as an authoritative opinion of social media and the Olympic Games.
