That&#8217;s probably a question for LOCOG. Tony wasn&#8217;t nominated by a company, he was asked by the IOC to represent Twitter and its role in bringing athletes and fans closer together.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The general manager of Twitter in the UK got to carry the torch today &#8211; and, naturally, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TonyW\/status\/227773966771695617\">tweeted about it too<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><del>It&#8217;s not clear why he carried the torch, as Wang not only doesn&#8217;t have a nomination story &#8211; he is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.london2012.com\/torch-relay\/torchbearers\/day=2012-07-24\/\">not even listed<\/a> on the official torch relay website<\/del>.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter recently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/annemariekelly\/2012\/07\/24\/how-tweet-is-twitters-olympics-hub-plan\/\">announced<\/a> a partnership with NBCUniversal to &#8220;serve as a hub for digital communications&#8221; about the Games.
