The Press Association reports on the announcement that a new ‘Institute of Health Equity’ will be launched to “tackle health inequalities”.The organisation, led by Professor Sir Michael Marmot (Wikipedia profile; BMA biography) and hosted by University College London (UCL), will:

“receive £1 million from the Department of Health over the next three years to fund its work in collecting evidence and providing … invaluable advice and support for local organisations and health professionals during the transition to [a] fairer system.”

Presumably the body will be subject to FOI laws through UCL.
